The Hill and Levene Schools of Business are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Erin Oldford as the incoming Dean, Faculty of Business Administration.
Dr. Oldford was appointed to the position on July 31st, 2024. She replaces Dr. Gina Grandy who became Dean of University of Calgary's Haskayne School of Business in May 2023. Dr. Saqib Khan was Interim Dean between Dr. Grandy's departure and the appointment of Dr. Oldford.
"We are very pleased to have Dr. Oldford taking on the position of Dean of the Hill and Levene Schools of Business. Dr. Oldford brings a wealth of experience, and a strong focus on experiential learning, which will play an important role in the ongoing growth and development of the schools," said Dr. david Gregory, Provost, University of Regina.
Dr. Gregory thanked Dr. Khan for his work as Interim Dean over the past year.
"I want to express our deep appreciation to Dr. Khan for stepping into the position of Interim Dean and shepherding the schools over the past year during our extensive search for the incoming Dean. Dr. Khan did an excellent job of managing the schools, ensuring they were ready for the arrival of the new Dean," he said.
Dr. Oldford brings a wealth of academic leadership experience. She has held the position of Interim Associate Dean, and Associate Dean, of Undergraduate Programs and Accreditation at Memorial University since 2021. She is a graduate of the Sprott School of Business with a PhD in Management and a focus on finance, she has also developed and taught a range of finance courses.
An innovative leader, while at Memorial University, she facilitated the reimagining of experiential learning programming at the Harlow, UK campus, helping commerce students to work as management consultants with UK companies. Dr. Oldford is passionate about, and a champion for, experiential and peer-to-peer learning programs. She has also focused efforts on societal impact, developing an organizational social impact statement and plan to guide the organization's efforts. Her strong skills in the development of experiential learning will benefit not only the Hill and Levene Schools of Business but also Saskatchewan's business community.
"I am honoured to be taking on the role of Dean for such innovative and established business schools. The schools' use of experiential learning, and the student-led community services and initiatives, are a strong fit with my experience and passion. I look forward to working with the schools' distinguished faculty and impressive student body, and to building relationships with the business community across Saskatchewan," she said.
Dr. Oldford was hired into the position of Dean, following a national search conducted according to the provisions of the University of Regina's policy on out-of-scope administrative appointments.
She will be meeting with academic and business leaders both inside and outside the university. She will also be hosting a Student Town Hall this fall.
