BROCK UNIVERSITY
New International Strategic Plan shapes Brock's global future

November 22, 2024

Brock University is taking a significant step forward in its commitment to global engagement with the unveiling of its International Strategic Plan.

The plan was launched Tuesday, Nov. 19 during an event in Pond Inlet that included a panel discussion on preparing Brock students to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world and embracing international collaboration and cultural exchange.

"An internationalization plan is essential for universities, fostering global collaboration and academic diversity and preparing students for a competitive workforce," said Geraldine Jones, University Registrar and Associate Vice-President, Strategic Enrolment and co-chair of the International Strategic Planning Committee. "It enables institutions to adapt to cultural nuances, attract international talent and contribute to global knowledge exchange."

The new plan reinforces Brock's dedication to strengthening global connections, promoting cross-cultural understanding and offering students, faculty and staff transformative international opportunities at home and abroad.

Expand perspectives and possibilities outlines four strategic directions that will shape the University's internationalization efforts over the next five years:

  • Celebrate our impact.
  • Unlock our potential.
  • Shape global minds.
  • Tackle global questions, together.

A steering committee comprised of senior leadership, faculty, students and members of the Board of Trustees and Senate guided the planning process through extensive consultations with internal and external community members.

"The launch of the International Strategic Plan marks a pivotal moment in Brock's journey," said Vice-President, External Meaghan Rusnell, co-chair of the International Strategic Planning Committee. "As we move forward, this plan will guide us in strengthening Brock's role on the global stage, ensuring that our academic and community partnerships contribute to a more interconnected and inclusive world."
