"We knew we found Alberta University of the Arts' next leader when Dr. Janis Goldie presented an ambitious, inclusive and pragmatic vision for the university that builds visibility, expands partnerships and supports our community," says Adrian Stimson, Chair of the Board of Governors and Chair of the Presidential Search Committee. "Alberta University of the Arts turns 100 in 2026, and Dr. Janis Goldie is the ideal person to lead us into our next century," he adds.

An accomplished leader and academic, Dr. Janis Goldie joined AUArts in 2022 as the Dean, Academic Programs and has fostered partnerships, stewarded significant changes to the undergraduate and graduate programs, encouraged growth in research and curriculum, implemented elements of the Indigenous Pathways strategy, supported diversity in the AUArts community and actively promoted development in teaching and learning.

"Having evidenced firsthand the impressive talent and passion of Alberta University of the Arts' community, I am excited about celebrating the university's past 100 years and helping to build its vision for the future as a global leader in art, craft and design education," says Dr. Janis Goldie, the next President and Chief Executive Officer of Alberta University of the Arts.

Prior to Alberta University of the Arts, Dr. Janis Goldie spent over a decade in the Ontario post-secondary system in academic administration. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Arts in Communication Studies from the University of Calgary, and a Bachelor of Arts in English, Rhetoric and Professional Writing from the University of Waterloo.

Dr. Janis Goldie's five-year term begins April 14, 2025.
