CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY
Largest multidisciplinary conference of its kind in the francophonie is being organized this year by ÉTS in collaboration with Concordia

February 25, 2025

This year's Congrès de l'Acfas, organized by the École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS) in collaboration with Concordia, has selected Marie Lambert-Chan as its honorary president. The 2025 congress is taking place from May 5 to 9 at ÉTS.

Since 2023, Lambert-Chan has been editor-in-chief of the Radio-Canada program Découverte. She is also responsible for science and environmental content in Radio-Canada's news department. She has nearly 20 years of experience in the media industry. Previously, she was editor-in-chief of Québec Science magazine and a science columnist on Radio-Canada's Moteur de recherche, Bien entendu and On va se le dire. She was also a member of the Commission d'éthique en science et en technologie du Québec. According to Acfas her background and personal qualities make her the perfect spokesperson for the upcoming Acfas conference.

"More than ever, our world needs science to meet the challenges we face. But this science cannot remain within the walls of laboratories and research centres. It has to be explained and shared with the general public," Lambert-Chan says.

"This is where Acfas plays a crucial role: it fosters dialogue between the research community and society. It enables scientific knowledge to be disseminated in French, informing our decisions and helping us to better understand the complex world in which we live. This is an essential mission, at a time when misinformation continues to proliferate and doubt and confusion are increasingly exploited. I'm delighted to be associated with Acfas, ÉTS and Concordia University for this 92nd Congress."

At the heart of technological and social solutions

International in scope, the annual Acfas congress is the largest multidisciplinary scientific gathering in the French-speaking world, and it is a flagship institution for the promotion of research in Canada. Hosting the 92nd Acfas Congress is an opportunity for ÉTS and Concordia to raise the profile of French-language research in Canada and in the international scientific francophonie.

The theme of this year's conference is research at the heart of technological and social solutions, underscoring the crucial role research plays in resolving the major challenges of today and in understanding social and political dynamics. By combining the humanities and social sciences with the natural sciences, engineering and life sciences, the research community is better equipped to find effective solutions to the increasingly complex problems facing the world, while improving public well-being. Co-presided by ÉTS and Concordia, the scientific program of the 92nd Congress will include some 200 symposia and 300 scientific presentations
