On March 3, Dr. Donna Rogers, Interim President and Vice-Chancellor, made the following statement:
I am excited and ready to lead Algoma University as Interim President and Vice-Chancellor. Having served as Interim Vice-President Academic and Research and previously as Academic Dean (2018-2020) and Vice-President Academic and Research (2020-2022) I know the strength of the Algoma community and the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
Algoma University has always been shaped by the vision, dedication, and collective strength of our people. We are a community that grows through change, learns through challenge, and moves forward with purpose. This year, construction will start on the Makwa Waakaa'igan Centre of Excellence, a transformational project that reflects the University's Special Mission and commitment to cross-cultural learning. We are also introducing new Master's programs, expanding opportunities for students, and strengthening our course offerings.
While transition can be challenging, it is a natural part of growth. I am confident that together, as a community, we will forge ahead and take on any challenges that come our way. In the coming weeks, I will be releasing an Outlook Report to the Algoma University community that provides an overview of where we are, what lies ahead, and how we will move forward together.
The institution's past leaders have positioned us for success. My focus as Algoma University's new leader will be on building on that solid foundation ensuring we remain a place where students thrive and big ideas take shape. The University's future is bright. There's so much to look forward to, and I cannot wait to see what we accomplish together.
