BROCK UNIVERSITY
Continuing Education marks milestone anniversary

March 21, 2025

Brock University's Professional and Continuing Studies (PCS) is celebrating the one-year anniversary of its first open-enrollment course, Introduction to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, which launched on March 19, 2024.

Established to support lifelong learning, Brock PCS has experienced significant growth since its inception, providing flexible and accessible learning opportunities for local professionals and community members.

"Professional and Continuing Studies at Brock was created to meet the evolving needs of learners at every stage of their careers," says Rajiv Jhangiani, Vice-Provost, Teaching and Learning. "It is exciting to see Brock PCS continue to expand its programming, equipping learners with essential skills that support their personal and professional development."

Over the past year, the University has adopted a new non-credit programming model, transitioned Continuing Teacher Education into the non-credit space under Brock PCS, and launched a variety of micro-credentials and professional certificates. Among these are Professional Certificates in Business Administration and Human Resources, which align with industry-recognized accreditations from the Association of Administrative Professionals and the Human Resources Professionals Association.

"Brock PCS continues to demonstrate the University's commitment to lifelong learning by serving the Niagara region and beyond," says Provost and Vice-President, Academic, Arja Vainio-Mattila. "I look forward to seeing how PCS will further support learners in achieving their goals, complementing the work done by the Goodman Group and CCOVI in the non-credit space."

In addition to its open-enrollment programs, Brock PCS has expanded its impact through customized training for local organizations. A partnership with the South Niagara Chamber of Commerce has further solidified PCS as a leader in providing learning opportunities for the region's business community.

"Brock PCS is dedicated to supporting workforce upskilling and professional development. We look forward to collaborating with businesses, learners, and stakeholders to enhance education and training outcomes in the communities we serve," says Nathan Cheney, Director, Professional and Continuing Studies.

To mark the anniversary, Brock PCS is offering a 20 per cent savings on select programs. Details are available on the PCS website and questions can be directed to ce@brocku.ca
