In a bold and engaging approach to student recruitment, Algoma University's Brampton campus recently engaged four local high schools for its first-ever indoor cricket tournament at the Save Max Sports Centre, blending sport, education, and camaraderie into one dynamic event.
Students rotated between high-energy cricket matches and interactive recruitment presentations. While two teams competed on the court, the other two were immersed in sessions highlighting Algoma's academic programs, student supports, and community-focused culture-all tailored to help them envision their future as Thunderbirds.

"This tournament was designed to go beyond the typical recruitment event," shared Alex Mohamed, Algoma University's Recruitment Lead, Outreach & Community Engagement. "By connecting with students through a sport many of them are passionate about, we created an authentic and memorable experience that introduced them to our campus and values in a way that felt personal."
As Algoma University continues to grow its Brampton presence, events like this reinforce its commitment to community, inclusion, and innovative pathways to postsecondary education.
