Brock's progress celebrated as Annual Report launched

The Brock community came together Thursday, Oct. 9 to celebrate the University's progress in the year since launching its institutional strategic plan.

President and Vice-Chancellor Lesley Rigg delivered the update alongside senior leaders who shared some of the many highlights and accomplishments from 2024-25 and reflected on how they advance the University's strategic priorities.

The event saw the launch of Brock's Annual Report and the presentation of the University Action Plan, which is also included in the newly released document.

Rigg emphasized the initiatives highlighted during the event were a sampling of the many impressive advancements that have taken place at Brock over the past year.

"This is only a small representation, or snapshot, of the many great things going on at and around Brock, and the amazing work that each one of you do every day to contribute to academics, research, projects and other initiatives," she said. "We see the work you do. Our students benefit from everything Brock has to offer, and it is because of each of you."

The event's speakers included:

  • Anna Lathrop, Special Advisor to the President and Provost, and Acting Vice-Provost, Teaching and Learning, who outlined the University Action Plan.
  • Debbie Inglis, Director of Brock's Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute, who highlighted Brock's clean vines research.
  • Melissa Krist, Executive Director of Brock Sports and Recreation, who reflected on the opening of the University's new Sport Medicine Clinic.
  • Chelsea Takalo, Associate Vice-President, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, who spoke about initiatives in Brock's Office of Human Rights and Equity.
  • David Begg, Associate Vice-President, International, who discussed the launch of Brock's international strategic plan and global delegations.
  • Rob Gottschalk, Associate Vice-President, Alumni and Development, who highlighted alumni initiatives and donor impact.
  • Mary Quintana, Interim Associate Vice-President, Facilities Management, who discussed the transformative SPARK clean infrastructure project.
  • Steven Khan, Director of Teacher Education Programs, who reflected on the opening of the Burlington Campus and the growth of teacher education at Brock.
