BROCK UNIVERSITY
Suzanne Curtin reappointed Vice-Provost and Dean, Faculty of Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs

November 10, 2025

Suzanne Curtin has been reappointed as Vice-Provost and Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs (FGSPA) and will begin her second term on July 1, 2026.

Curtin joined Brock in 2020 as Vice-Provost and Dean of FGSPA. In April 2024, her term was extended until June 30, 2026.

With extensive experience in academia, Curtin has worked and studied across North America, from Montreal to Los Angeles and Vancouver to Pittsburgh. She spent 15 years as a Psychology Professor at the University of Calgary, taking on the role of Associate Dean in the Faculty of Graduate Studies in her final three years.

Since joining Brock in 2020, Curtin has led the development of the Faculty's strategic plan, which focused on elevating the profile of graduate studies and postdoctoral affairs within the University and ensuring access to scholarly and mental health supports.

She played a crucial role in implementing a supervisor toolkit available on Brock's Brightspace platform, designed to enhance the graduate experience and help supervisors reach their full potential while adhering to best practices. Curtin also played a key role in developing the Principles of Graduate Supervision at Ontario Universities and is part of a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Connection Grant building a national community of practice for supervision.

A champion for accessible education, Curtin has worked to create pathways that address barriers to entry in graduate level education. In March 2024, FGSPA launched 10 graduate micro-programs to provide students with graduate-level experience without the commitment of a master's degree.

Looking forward, Curtin shared her vision for the continued growth of graduate and postdoctoral studies at Brock.

"As I begin my second term, my focus will continue to be on supporting the success of our graduate students and postdoctoral scholars, creating opportunities for faculty to develop their supervisory practice and advancing Brock's reputation for outstanding graduate education, research excellence and innovation," she said.
