Trent recognizes impact of donors and legacy giving on student wellness, scholarships, and learning spaces on National Philanthropy Day
In recognition of National Philanthropy Day, Trent unveiled a revitalized Legacy Wall in Bata Library, a tribute to the donors whose planned gifts have created lasting impact across our campuses. This unveiling reflects Trent's commitment to celebrating the contributions and commitments of all donors whose support strengthens the University's academic, research, and learning community.

"Donors are shaping the future of Trent," said Donna Doherty, campaign director of the Momentous Campaign. "Their generosity ensures that students - today and tomorrow - have access to the spaces, programs, and support they need to thrive. We are profoundly grateful for their vision and generosity."
Since 2019, legacy gifts have provided more than $4.5 million in support for students. These contributions are:
- Expanding mental health resources to support student well-being
- Providing access to education through more than 15 scholarships and bursaries, including support for single parents
- Creating dynamic learning spaces like the Crime Scene Facility, Jalynn Bennett Amphitheatre, Durham Medicine Wheel Garden, and Trent Farm Research Centre Lightbody Drive Shed
Trent student Anna Thomson-Rogers shared how legacy gifts have directly impacted her academic journey.
"Support from donors shows me that people believe in students like me," said Trent student Anna Thomson-Rogers, recipient of the Anne Keenleyside Anthropology Prize. "That kind of support opens doors - it encourages us to aim higher and reminds us that what we're doing matters."
