Over the next few months, MSVU faculty and senior students will host a series of free hands-on science exploration opportunities for youth in grades 7 to 12 (and teachers!). This popular event series - called Science Circles - was started at MSVU almost 10 years ago by associate professor of math (and MSVU alum!) Dr. Danielle Cox and colleagues.
The first session for 2025/2026 is coming up on December 8, 2025, with a focus on biology. Explore the world of small wonders with Dr. David Awde, Dr. Lori Borgal and Senior Lab Instructor Kevin Shaughnessy from the MSVU Biology Department by taking a different look at the living things around us.
Registration is required as space is limited. Register here.
Science Circles are aimed at fostering an appreciation for the sciences by sharing interesting knowledge. The series seeks to build an understanding of university science programs, and includes lab and classroom components.
"Participants will get to see what university laboratories are like and see that university professors are not scary, but rather approachable, regular people who love to share knowledge and excite students about learning," said Danielle.
All Science Circles events take place from 6:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in Evaristus Hall at MSVU, room 102. [Evaristus Hall is building 12 on this map.]
Events featuring math, chemistry and psychology will follow. Stay tuned.
