Employee dedication, impact recognized at President's Celebration

Brock employees from across the University gathered to celebrate the outstanding contributions and milestone achievements of their colleagues on Tuesday, Dec. 9.

Held in Sean O'Sullivan Theatre, the President's Annual Staff Recognition and Awards Celebration welcomed hundreds of staff and faculty to mark the occasion.

Brock President and Vice-Chancellor Lesley Rigg honoured outstanding staff as well as employees who have reached significant service milestones during the President's Annual Staff Recognition and Awards Celebration on Tuesday, Dec. 9 in Sean O'Sullivan Theatre.

During the annual event, Brock President and Vice-Chancellor Lesley Rigg presented the President's Distinguished Staff Service Awards for Outstanding Contributions, the Office of People and Culture Distinguished Staff Service Award for Leadership, and the Brock University Outstanding Team Service Award.

Rigg said Brock is fortunate to have a team of faculty, staff and librarians that are creative, hardworking and deeply committed to supporting both the University's students and one another.

"For more than 60 years, Brock's greatest strength has been, and continues to be, its people," she said. "And that means all of you: the individuals who make this University such a supportive and vibrant place to study, work and collaborate; a team that continues to advance Brock's mission to transform lives and imagine a stronger, more sustainable future for our communities."

Rigg also commended employees who reached service milestones of five, 10, 15, 25, 35 years and 50 years.

"Your dedication, expertise and institutional knowledge are truly invaluable," she said. "Thank you for everything you do to support our students, strengthen our community and help Brock thrive."

Awards presented at the Dec. 9 event included:

President's Distinguished Staff Service Awards for Outstanding Contributions

 People and Culture Distinguished Staff Service Award for Leadership

  • Zhane Hamilton, Executive Assistant, HRE, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion was recognized for her exceptional people-centred leadership in advancing equity and inclusion at Brock. Zhane plays a key role in co-ordinating major equity and human rights initiatives, ensuring complex committees and campus-wide programs run smoothly and inclusively. Her calm approach, thoughtful communication and ability to bring people together have strengthened her team's effectiveness and helped foster a more respectful and connected campus environment.

Brock University Outstanding Team Service Award

  • The team recognized for their outstanding contribution, beyond what is normally expected, was Custodial Services. They were honoured for their essential role in maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming campus for all. Their work supports daily operations and major events such as Convocation, creating a strong first impression for visitors and a seamless experience for students and families. Over the past year, the team also advanced sustainability efforts through waste reduction, improved recycling and green cleaning practices. Their dedication positively impacts every member of the Brock community and reflects the University's commitment to excellence in its campus environment.
