February 6, 2026

Cindie LeBlanc has recently joined MacEwan University as the new associate vice-president, Government and Community Relations.

LeBlanc brings extensive experience in regional collaboration and stakeholder engagement from her time as director, Corporate and Stakeholder Relations with the Edmonton Metropolitan Region Board, where she worked closely with municipalities and partners across the region on shared priorities. Earlier in her career, she spent 18 years with the Government of Alberta in progressively senior roles, contributing to public policy, intergovernmental relations and strategic communications in service of Albertans.

Most recently, LeBlanc was with Concordia University of Edmonton, where she was chief public affairs officer, leading strategic communications, external relations, including government and alumni relations, fundraising and public engagement for the institution.

"I am excited to welcome Cindie to MacEwan," said Lara McClelland, vice-president, University Relations. "Throughout her career, she has built a reputation as a trusted collaborator, strategic advisor and champion for community-focused partnerships. Her experience navigating Alberta's municipal and provincial landscapes, alongside her work with post-secondary institutions and community partners, will strengthen MacEwan's ability to tell its story, build on our relationships and advance our strategic vision with government and community."

LeBlanc has a Master of Arts in Global Leadership from Royal Roads University, a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alberta (Campus Saint-Jean), and extensive board and volunteer work.

The associate vice-president, Government and Community Relations will lead MacEwan's engagement with all orders of government, as well as key community partners. This position is essential in supporting the achievement of MacEwan's strategic plan, Teaching Greatness. It reflects the university's commitment to enhancing its voice in the post-secondary business and community sectors while reinforcing its identity as a key downtown pillar.

LeBlanc's first day at MacEwan was February 2.
