On March 16, Université de Moncton announced the official launch of its Eco-Responsible Entrepreneurship Hub, a defining initiative aimed at preparing the next generation of Francophone entrepreneurs while supporting the province's SMEs in their transition toward environmentally sustainable and responsible practices.
"This Hub is directly aligned with the climate action plan of our Cap sur l'Avenir strategy and embodies our vision of a university deeply rooted in the needs of its community," said Dr. Denis Prud'homme, President and Vice-Chancellor of Université de Moncton. "It allows us to train students who will be agents of change, capable of balancing economic performance with environmental and social responsibility."
A pivotal contribution from RBC Foundation
The launch of Phase 1 of the Hub (2026-2028) is made possible through a donation from RBC Foundation. This support will help enable the creation of a collaborative hub, a digital platform dedicated to environmentally sustainable entrepreneurship, workshops and bootcamps focused on eco-responsible practices, experiential internships, local business site visits, and community-building events all initiatives that will lay the groundwork for a vibrant and engaged entrepreneurial ecosystem.
"Supporting francophone entrepreneurship isn't just good for business - it's essential for building resilient, thriving communities across New Brunswick," said Kimberly LeRoux- Vautour, Regional Vice President, Eastern New Brunswick, RBC. "This contribution will help equip students and local small and medium enterprises with the expertise and skills needed to launch and sustain businesses that strengthen our regional economy for generations to come."
A naming recognition in honour of an exceptional gift
In recognition of this transformative donation, Université de Moncton officially designates the Hub's collaborative spaces under the name d'Espaces collaboratifs RBC Fondation, for a period of five years.
In addition, RBC Foundation is elevated to the highest tier of the Ordre de la Chancelière, that of Ambassador the highest mark of recognition reserved for partners who play a foundational role in the mission of the institution.
Concrete outcomes for students and SMEs
The Eco-Responsible Entrepreneurship Hub will provide participants with concrete tools to integrate profitability, environmental responsibility and social engagement, as well as access to a network of businesses, mentors and local partners. For SMEs, it represents a privileged gateway to university expertise.
A two-phase vision
Phase 1 (2026-2028), supported by RBC Foundation, establishes the foundations of the Hub. It will be followed by Phase 2 (2028-2030), which includes the integration of an eco-fab lab.
