MCMASTER UNIVERSITY
Touch grass: Annual Earth Day Fair combines campus sustainability, DIY houseplants, healthy treats

April 16, 2026

Curious about campus sustainability? Visit the Earth Day Fair to explore the innovative solutions helping reduce McMaster's environmental footprint.

"The Earth Day Fair is an opportunity for community members to see how sustainability shows up in our day-to-day university operations, from the products we choose to the way our buildings are designed and run," says Dave Cano, director of sustainability.

The fair features hands-on activities and interactive displays that bring sustainability to life.

Stop by to make your own take-home "good luck plant," enjoy complimentary healthy treats, and connect with campus teams working to embed sustainable practices into everyday operations.

New this year, participants can enter to win a pair of Apple AirPods by completing a United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) passport. Attendees can pick up a passport at the event and become eligible for the draw by visiting three vendors, each aligned with one or more UN SDGs.

The passport offers an engaging way to learn how campus initiatives contribute to global sustainability efforts, while earning a chance to win a great prize.

Join the Earth Day Fair on April 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on the main floor of the Hub.

Highlights:

  • Learn how campus operational teams are advancing sustainability across university operations
  • Plant and take home your own "good luck plant"
  • Complete an SDG passport for a chance to win Apple AirPods
  • Enjoy complimentary healthy treats.
