The University of New Brunswick is proud to announce the 2026 recipients of the Arthur and Sandra Irving Primrose Scholarship at UNB's Saint John campus. This year's recipients are Jack Fry of Hampton and Sarah Nesbitt of Quispamsis.
Valued at $40,000 over four years, the Arthur and Sandra Irving Primrose Scholarship recognizes outstanding students for their academic achievement, community involvement, and athletic leadership. The scholarship was founded more than two decades ago by Sandra Irving, C.M. (BA'95, DLITT 09) and the late Arthur Irving, O.C., O.N.B. (DLITT '09).

"UNB is proud of our deep and longstanding relationship with Sandra and Arthur Irving, and of the many Primrose Scholars who are making a real difference in their communities," said UNB's Acting President and Vice Chancellor, Dr. Kathy Wilson. "For more than 25 years, the Arthur and Sandra Irving Primrose Scholarships have recognized exceptional leadership among top high school students coming to UNB's Saint John campus. We are deeply grateful to the Irvings for their continued support of these outstanding students and the opportunities they make possible."
Jack Fry is a graduate of Hampton High School, where he was captain of the basketball team, played soccer and volleyball, and held a lead role in the school musical. He is a prolific volunteer, having given time and skills to organizations including Hampton Fire-Rescue, the Dr. V.A. Snow Centre and Hampton Food Bank. Fry is also an entrepreneur, having established and built an auto detailing business in his community.
Sarah Nesbitt is a graduate of Kennebecasis Valley High School, where she supported her fellow students as a peer tutor and contributed to the creative design of the school yearbook. Outside of school, she competes at the provincial and national levels in competitive cheerleading and works as a cheerleading coach for young children. Nesbitt's volunteer experience includes assisting at a local nursing home and at Saint John Regional Hospital, and serving meals to community members in need through a local church.
Nesbitt and Fry are both enrolled in the bachelor of science degree program at UNB Saint John.
"We are very proud to welcome Jack and Sarah to the community of Primrose Scholars," said Sandra Irving. "We congratulate them and really look forward to all they will accomplish in the next four years and beyond."
