Nine McMaster research projects have been awarded a total of over $1.6 million from the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI).
The funding was announced today as part of a larger CFI investment that includes more than $118 million for 357 research projects at institutions across Canada through the JELF and College Fund programs.
JELF enables universities to attract and retain world-class research talent by providing the state-of-the-art infrastructure researchers need to succeed.
"Canada is investing in researchers and innovators whose ideas will drive our future prosperity. Through more than $118 million in funding from the Canada Foundation for Innovation, we are equipping researchers with the cutting-edge infrastructure they need to advance discovery, attract top talent and build Canada's economic growth and resilience," said the Honorable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions.
Gianni Parise, McMaster's vice-president, research, congratulates the awardees and thanks the government for their continued investment in McMaster research.
"With this support, our researchers will develop solutions to some of our most pressing health, environmental and technological challenges, strengthening Canada's position as a global research leader," he says.
