As we begin the 2026-27 academic year, we are pleased to announce new external members to the Alberta University of the Arts Board of Governors and express gratitude as our current Chair steps down. Board Chair Adrian Stimson (BFA 03) has made the decision to conclude as Chair after serving three years as a member before becoming Chair in 2024. Stimson, a multidisciplinary artist and AUArts' first Indigenous Chair, has roots with the institution beginning as a student.
Stimson brought his passion for making to his role as Board Chair along with his vision of AUArts community impact. He led key initiatives including centennial activities throughout AUArts' 100th year and the hiring of President and CEO Janis Goldie. He also oversaw the organization through a year of progression as a leading arts education institution, including the approval of the Bachelor of Creative Industries degree and support of the Lodgepole Centre. Tammi Price, Vice Chair, will serve as Acting Chair, effective Friday, September 11. Price has served on the AUArts board since November 2023.

New members bring expertise as AUArts launches strategic planning process
The Board of Governors is pleased to welcome three new members who will bring key insights, knowledge and experience to AUArts as the institution prepares for its future: Kelly Hopper, Andrea Klaiber-Langen and Krista Lauridsen.
Kelly Hopper is an accomplished finance and operations executive with 25 years of experience leading organizations in Canada and internationally. She has held senior financial and operational roles across the private sector, guided by a belief that people are an organization's most important asset. A passionate supporter of the arts, Hopper has volunteered extensively with arts organizations and even performed ballet in the opening ceremonies of the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics.
Andrea Klaiber-Langen is an accomplished lawyer and business leader with extensive experience in strategy, law, finance and organizational leadership. Throughout her career, she has combined strong business acumen with a commitment to building relationships, developing people and helping organizations navigate change. As an External Governor with Alberta University of the Arts, Klaiber-Langen brings that experience to supporting the University and its creative community.
Krista Lauridsen is a real estate and design leader who brings together physical space and human experience, overseeing more than 260 locations. With degrees in architecture and business and a career spanning five countries, she brings a global perspective to inclusive design, placemaking and the future of work. Named one of Calgary's Top 40 Under 40 in 2023, she is also an avid traveller, amateur artist and gardener.
Together with the rest of the Board, the new members will contribute to AUArts' strategic direction as the institution celebrates its 100-year milestone and expands its leadership in art, craft and design education in Alberta.
Community members are invited to join the centennial celebration on October 1 and share their valuable input that will inform AUArts' next institutional strategy.
