CAPE BRETON UNIVERSITY
CBU Alumna, Dr. Arlene Kelly-Wiggins, to provide geriatric services in Cape Breton

December 12, 2018

Cape Breton University is extremely proud of Alumna, Dr. Arlene Kelly-Wiggins and her work and involvement in the reopening of the Geriatric Medicine and Memory Disability Clinic in Sydney.

Starting in 1985, Arlene took two years of her science degree at CBU, majoring in chemistry, and completed her degree at another Atlantic University. She returned to CBU and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English. After graduation, Arlene applied to medical school but was unsuccessful in getting in. Arlene turned her attention to teaching and starting a family. Seven years ago, Arlene again applied to medical and was accepted. She moved to Halifax and attended Dalhousie, while her family lived in Sydney.

Dr. Kelly-Wiggins completed a year of enhanced skills training in Care of the Elderly with Dalhousie University's departments of Geriatric Medicine and Family Medicine in 2018 and has earned a Certificate of Added Competency in Care of the Elderly through the College of Family Physicians of Canada.

Your Alumni family is proud of the work you are doing and your contributions to meeting the needs of our community!
