PETERBOROUGH
Cleantech Commons and Urban Living Futures Partner to Promote Canadian Cleantech Innovation

March 4, 2021

Cleantech Commons, a research park focused on clean technologies at Trent University in Peterborough, has partnered with Urban Living Futures (ULF) to help Canadian ventures in the cleantech sector lead the economic recovery.

This joint initiative is designed to help companies connect with new customers and deploy their technology solutions more quickly.

Cleantech Commons and Urban Living Futures have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will see Cleantech Commons leveraging ULF's UPPlift® platform. Known as the Cleantech Innovation Portal, the initiative will help to identify and promote leading Canadian cleantech innovators and expose them to opportunities for growth, scaling, funding, and commercial success.

Cleantech Commons is a hub for clean, green, low-carbon, and sustainable technology research, innovation, commercialization, and entrepreneurship. Its goal is to boost collaboration between industry and the academic, research and student community by creating a cluster of scalable growth companies, startups & spinout ventures committed to addressing energy, environment, and climate challenges.

The Cleantech Innovation Portal, powered by UPPlift, will provide access to cleantech, smart city, and smart technology innovators by commercial developers, asset owners and managers, city authorities, municipalities, infrastructure investors, and program funders seeking green solutions that help them achieve operational savings, improved resilience, and enhanced user experience as part of the post-COVID economic recovery.

"We are excited to partner with Urban Living Futures on this important initiative." says Martin Yuill, executive director of Cleantech Commons. "The Cleantech Innovation Portal brings considerable value to the cleantech community and creates visibility for, and a better understanding of, the ground-breaking green solutions that are being developed cross Canada."

He says that the portal will help get Canadian cleantech solutions to market faster by supporting smart city and clean technology adoption and growth.

Cleantech and smart city innovators are invited to register on the platform. They will benefit from exclusive access to ongoing development at Cleantech Commons, including calls for innovation deployment, and will enjoy access to programs, technology piloting, pitching, investment, and procurement.

"We are looking forward to seeing Cleantech Commons continue to develop as a significant hub for cleantech innovation and a cluster of high-impact Canadian companies," says Mikele Brack, CEO of Urban Living Futures. "Academic institutions and technology accelerators are key stakeholders in the innovation ecosystem, and we are pleased that Cleantech Commons has selected the UPPlift platform to manage their innovation community and support the commercialization of emerging Canadian technologies."

The UPPlift Platform provides innovators with a personalized dashboard to create and update their company profile, view emerging commercial and funding opportunities, and log their progress and achievements. The platform offers a seamless application process which accelerates their response to a wide range of innovation initiatives and procurement opportunities published on the platform.

Cleantech Commons is encouraging all clean technology companies interested in being considered by commercial interests to register on the Cleantech Innovation Portal. Learn more about the opportunity here.
