In April 2021, the Halifax Regional Municipality announced a pilot study on the prevention of Yellow Floating Heart in Little Albro Lake in partnership with the Centre for Water Resource Studies at Dalhousie University and McCallum Environmental Ltd.
The pilot study has now concluded. From Tuesday, September 28 to Thursday, September 30, boats and diving teams will be on-site to assist with removal of the benthic barriers at the bottom of the lake.
To ensure the safety of personnel and the integrity of the study, residents and lake users are asked to avoid the study area from September 28 to September 30.
A report on the findings is expected to be delivered by Dalhousie University in 2022. Technical questions regarding the study may be directed to Dr. Rob Jamieson at the Centre for Water Resources Studies at Dalhousie University.
