YORK UNIVERSITY
Draft Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy released

March 24, 2022

Following the release of York's Draft Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Strategy, there will be opportunities for members of the York community to share advice and recommendations on how to advance the document.

Boozhoo, Kwe Kwe, bonjour and warm greetings,

On behalf of the President's Advisory Council on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (The Council), I am happy to inform you that after much learning, reflection and listening, a Draft Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy (Draft EDI Strategy) is ready for feedback from the York Community.

This Draft EDI Strategy reflects York University's long-standing commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion. It is the culmination of the work of the almost 50 members of The Council. The strategy aims to continue to foster an equitable, diverse, and inclusive community, where everyone feels they belong.

EDI Strategy feedback opportunities

Feedback received from the community during this period will be consolidated and presented to members of The Council for consideration to further inform and finalize the development of York's EDI Strategy. The impact of community feedback will be shared as part of the launch of York's first EDI Strategy later this year.

All community members are invited to review the Draft EDI Strategy. We also invite feedback from all members of the community via the website.

A number of feedback sessions with invited stakeholder individuals, groups and organizations as well as community members at large will take place from late March through April 2022. To learn more about the Draft EDI Strategy and the opportunities to provide feedback, please visit the EDI Strategy webpage.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the Draft EDI Strategy as we further our commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion at York University.

Miigwech, merci, thank you.

Vice-President Equity, People and Culture
