The University of Regina and City of Regina are building on their existing relationship and formally agreeing to work together on mutually beneficial initiatives through a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Both organizations recognize the value of collaboration and plan to work closely together in identifying and pursuing opportunities that benefit both parties and contribute to creating a livable, prosperous, and sustainable city and campus community.
"By working closely with the City of Regina on joint initiatives and supporting each other's strategic priorities, I truly believe this partnership will benefit our greater community," said University of Regina President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Jeff Keshen. "I am pleased to be working with the City of Regina and joining forces to make our city, and our university, even better than they already are."
"By further advancing our relationship with the University of Regina, we will be able to build a stronger community," said Mayor Sandra Masters. "We look forward to engaging with faculty and students to share ideas and work collaboratively on key initiatives that advance our city's social, economic and environmental wellbeing."
Senior leadership from both organizations will meet twice a year to discuss strategic priorities, updates on current collaborative projects, and future opportunities.
Projects and initiatives undertaken in alignment with the MOU will support and align with the areas of focus outlined in the University of Regina's 2020-2025 Strategic Plan (Discovery, Truth and Reconciliation, Well-being and Belonging, Environment and Climate Action, and Impact and Identity) and the City of Regina's strategic priorities (Economic Prosperity, Environmental Sustainability, Community Safety & Well-being, Vibrant Community, and Operational Excellence).
