NEW CAMPAIGN
Lethbridge Polytechnic Students' Association, Massage Therapy program feeding hungry students

November 13, 2024

With the holiday season fast approaching, the Lethbridge Polytechnic Students' Association (LPSA) launched a new campaign to feed hungry students. This year, "Lunch is on Us," with the LPSA providing lunch to 300 students daily from Nov. 25-29.

In place of previous years' food donations and gifts to the "Adopt a Family" hamper, this year LPSA is also seeking support in the form of grocery and restaurant gift cards in $25 denominations to further aid students' food needs through the holidays.

"The holiday season can be challenging financially for many of our students," said Angela Fretts-Waters, association services coordinator with LPSA. "We think it's important that they feel the warmth and compassion of the holidays with free meals and help getting food during this important time of year."

Students and employees from the Lethbridge Polytechnic Massage Therapy program have pledged their support to help LPSA in their campaign. The student massage therapy clinic, housed on campus, will provide significantly discounted massages when clients donate grocery and restaurant gift cards.

"Food security and affordability remain pressing issues for many people in Lethbridge, students included," stated Amy-Lynn Reed, student massage clinic manager. "This holiday season, we are committed to supporting our community by providing accessible massage therapy to those who find it difficult to afford standard rates while keeping hungry students fed."

Those who donate a $25 or more grocery or restaurant gift card (and include the gift receipt) will receive a 60-minute massage at no additional cost or a 90-minute massage when they donate a $40 or more gift card (with gift receipt included) at no additional cost. The student massage therapy clinic is open to everyone,

Only gift cards from grocery stores and restaurants operating in Lethbridge will be accepted.

The student massage therapy clinic is open Monday to Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Donations can be made during regular hours until the clinic closes for winter break on Dec. 3.
