December 19, 2024

The Calgary Catholic Education Foundation (CCEF) is excited to announce the recipients of its 2024-2025 grants, totaling $149,857.41 to support vital programs that enhance K-12 learning across the Calgary Catholic School District (CCSD). This year's grants focus on addressing urgent needs in student mental health and well-being, classroom technology, and faith development.

Dr. Bryan Szumlas, CCSD Chief Superintendent with CCEF Executive Director, Janet Lymer.

"These grants reflect our commitment to supporting Catholic education in meaningful ways," said Janet Lymer, Executive Director. "With increasing challenges, such as budget constraints and growing mental health needs, it's vital to ensure students have access to the tools, resources, and spaces that allow them to thrive academically, emotionally, and spiritually."

Investing in Students' Success

CCEF's 2024-2025 grants will benefit 46 schools and fund a variety of impactful projects across CCSD, including:

  • Mental Health and Well-being: Projects like The Reset Room at Monsignor J.S. Smith School focus on student resilience and emotional regulation, directly impacting their well-being and academic success.
  • Technology Upgrades: Investments in interactive LOFT boards at Our Lady of Fatima School and St. Martha School.
  • St. Luke School: To participate in Campus Calgary/Open Minds® programs.
  • Faith Development: Religious retreats and programs, such as Roots of Unity: To Know, To Love, To Serve at Christ the King School and A Sign of Christ at Monsignor Neville Anderson School, nurturing students' faith journeys.

The Importance of Catholic Education

CCEF supports Catholic schools as places where faith, learning, and community thrive. "Catholic education nurtures both the mind and heart, preparing students to impact society positively," said Lymer.

A Call to the Community

CCEF encourages the community to help bridge growing funding gaps. "Together, we can ensure all Catholic schools have equal access to fundraising support," added Deana Helton, CCEF Board Chair.
