At its organizational board meeting, the Calgary Catholic School District (CCSD) Board of Trustees re-elected Lory Iovinelli as chair and elected Steve Chapman as vice chair for the 2026-2027 school year.
Trustee Iovinelli represents wards 6, 8 and specialized programs. A former CCSD teacher, she is serving her third term as trustee and is passionate about Catholic education and the well-being of every student. During her service as trustee, she has held several leadership and representative roles both locally and provincially, including director, Alberta Catholic School Trustees' Association (ACSTA); representative, St. Mary's University; representative, Grateful Advocates for Catholic Education (GrACE) Board; and member, CCSD GrACE Grass Roots Organization. Since 2003, she has also volunteered in numerous district roles, including serving as vice chair and chair of school council.
Trustee Chapman represents wards 13 and 14. He is serving his first term and brings to the role a diverse background rooted in service, leadership and community engagement. Prior to becoming a trustee, he was a member of the Calgary Police Service, where he worked in Patrol, Traffic and Special Investigations. During his time in Major Crimes, he helped create the Youth Gang Task Force, an initiative designed to support at-risk youth and reconnect them with their homes, schools and communities. Trustee Chapman has also served on several community association boards and remains active with the Knights of Columbus (KofC) at St. Cecilia's Parish and the KofC Calgary Council.
