NAIT launches two new post-diploma certificate programs - Cybersecurity and Data Analytics

New certificate programs designed to meet the in-demand needs of organizations 

NAIT's new Cybersecurity post-diploma certificate program will address new and emerging cybersecurity issues and arm graduates with knowledge and strategies to protect organizations from complex and evolving cyber threats.

According to Cybersecurity program chair John Zabiuk, the growing number of cyberattacks and the ingenuity in which they are being executed has shown that current mitigation strategies are becoming ineffective. The COVID-19 pandemic has opened the door to more cyberattacks, says Zabiuk, with some cybersecurity firms reporting a 250 per cent to 350 per cent increase in attacks in the past year. Zabiuk says this leaves organizations and individuals' online information open to compromise, often leading to financially devastating results.   

The program, which was developed by cybersecurity experts from across Alberta, will also teach students about policy and legislation surrounding privacy laws so they can create strategies to legally defend against cyberattacks.  

NAIT will also launch the Data Analytics post-diploma certificate program this fall.  

Data analytics is a cross-disciplinary skill that can be applied to many industries such as accounting, healthcare, engineering, science, education, and business. NAIT's Data Analytics post-diploma certificate will teach students to use data insights, analysis and predictions for business decision-making and planning.   

Cybersecurity and Data Analytics post-diploma certificate programs are one-year programs. Course delivery for both programs is flexible and they are open to domestic and international students.   

Registration is open for the Cybersecurity post-diploma certificate program for the Spring 2021 intake and for both programs for the Fall 2021 intake.
