Capilano University (CapU) has just announced new special programming coming this summer 2025 for its Squamish campus. Three summer program intensives are currently being prepared to provide students with a unique learning experience combining education with adventure.

Summer program intensives offer rich learning experiences, with individuals immersing themselves into specific subjects within a short timeframe, useful for those with limited time who want to upskill quickly. CapU's summer intensives are interactive and place-based, allowing participants to engage directly with the breathtaking nature and biodiversity of the Sea-to-Sky region, connect with like-minded peers, and work closely with world-class instructors in a tight-knit class setting.
"The summer intensives offer an opportunity to experience CapU Squamish as a destination in a unique and stunning part of B.C.," says Brian Storey, associate vice-president, CapU Squamish. "Our goal is to ignite imagination and spark learning in a way that's engaging and unforgettable."
Participants will be offered the chance to stay at student housing residences on campus, with meals provided through a partnership with the beloved catering provider, Whistler Cooks. The curated programming has been specially selected to meet the needs of students and industry in the Sea-to-Sky region and beyond.
The 2025 summer program intensives offered are:
Environmental Stewardship and Responsible Tourism Management (May 12-July 11; in person at Squamish campus June 7-15): Explore the relationship between individuals, society and the natural world as it pertains to sustainable practices in tourism and environmental management through an innovative hybrid format.
Learn to Code (July 6-18): Dive into the world of programming with an engaging introduction to coding fundamentals.
Environmental Field Studies (July 20-Aug. 1): Explore the local biodiversity through place-based and experiential learning opportunities.
Full course descriptions, prerequisites, program fees, and registration details can be found at capilanou.ca/summer-intensives.
The summer program intensives are in addition to CapU Squamish's current programming, which includes adult basic education, arts, business administration, early childhood care and education, and interdisciplinary studies.
CapU also recently announced its Fall 2025 schedule, adding a bachelor of business administration, bachelor of environmental studies, education assistant certificate, diploma in kinesiology and tourism management co-op education diploma to its offerings. Applications for Fall 2025 are open.
The Squamish location opened last fall 2024, expanding the regional university's reach to provide post-secondary education to the Sea-to-Sky region.
