Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) has partnered with digital immigration platform BorderPass to support international students through the study visa application process.
Multiple federal government immigration policy changes since late 2023 have left international applicants needing more support to navigate Canada's shifting study permit system. BorderPass provides free support through the study permit application process to students who have applied to KPU. It also supports international students at KPU who need to extend or renew their study permits.
"We are very excited about this new partnership with BorderPass," says Carole St. Laurent, Associate Vice-President, International, at KPU. "It reflects KPU's commitment to supporting our international students at every step of their educational journey, from applying for a study permit to successfully completing their studies here in Canada.
"Navigating immigration requirements has become increasingly complex, and we want our students to feel confident, well-supported, and set up for success, with no extra cost to them, as they pursue their studies with us."
BorderPass provides study permit applicants with guidance and tools to support them through the immigration process, including guidance from immigration lawyers and experts. The service can also help with appeals where applications were denied unfairly, or key details were missed.
"BorderPass helps make immigration clearer and more affordable," says Jon Sherman, Vice-President of Partnerships at BorderPass. "Students and applicants who use BorderPass get personalized guidance, deadline alerts, and support from licensed immigration lawyers. They stay organized, avoid common mistakes, and feel more prepared for their move to Canada."
KPU is a leader in providing international students with support from the moment of application through to graduation. Other available supports include registration webinars, orientation sessions, pre-departure workshops, resources on preparing for living and studying in Canada, housing options, peer mentorship, mental health support, academic advising, international student events, tutoring and more.
