UCW announces new China Diploma to Degree Pathway

June 14, 2021

Students with a business diploma from China may now be eligible for block transfer credits towards a Bachelor of Commerce degree at University Canada West.

"This pathway program will make getting a Canadian degree more accessible to Chinese students," said Brock Dykeman, UCW President & Vice-Chancellor. "This initiative recognizes the hard work students have put in to earn their diploma so they can transfer those credits to UCW."

Students who have successfully completed a two or three-year diploma in a business-related subject area in China can apply for the for the 60-credit transfer, which is the equivalent to the first two years of their Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree program.

Students who complete their BCom degree are then eligible to enrol in UCW's Master of Business Administration program to earn their graduate degree.

Students applying for the transfer credits must meet UCW's other eligibility requirements, including English proficiency.

Students who do not meet the UCW's English language requirements can enrol in UCW's University Access Program before starting their BCom studies.

UCW is on the People's Republic of China's Ministry of Education's list of recognized universities.

Being accredited by the Ministry of Education makes it possible for UCW students to transfer to schools or pursue further studies in China, as well as making it easier for UCW graduates to work in public institutions in China.

"We look forward to welcoming more Chinese students to University Canada West," Brock said.
