Winnipeg School Division (WSD) is proud to announce the launch of its Universal Nutrition Program, an initiative designed to ensure that proper nutrition is no longer a barrier to learning for students across the division. This innovative program made possible through the collaboration of the Government of Canada, the Province of Manitoba, and the Schroeder Foundation, represents a transformative step in supporting the well-being and academic success of all students.
The Universal Nutrition Program will officially launch on Friday, December 13, at 10:00 a.m., at Hugh John Macdonald School. The event will celebrate the shared commitment of all partners to improving student outcomes through access to nutritious meals.
Over the past year, WSD has built a robust foundation for the program, developing several fully equipped kitchens, fostering partnerships with trusted vendors, and bringing onboard chefs and nutrition coordinators to deliver high-quality meals tailored to the needs of students.
"We believe that every child deserves an equal opportunity to thrive in school, and ensuring access to proper nutrition is a vital part of that mission," said Kathy Heppner, Chair of the Board of Trustees for Winnipeg School Division.

The Schroeder Foundation's significant contribution to this program has been instrumental in making the Universal Nutrition Program a reality. The Foundation's unwavering commitment to child well-being and education has set a benchmark for community leadership and collaboration.
