The University of Winnipeg is pleased to announce that the Senate and Board of Regents have re-elected Barb Gamey to an additional three-year term as Chancellor of the University of Winnipeg.
Barb Gamey has served as Chancellor since 2020. She is a co-founder of Payworks, one of Canada's largest national providers of payroll, human resource, and time management solutions. Under her leadership, the Winnipeg-based company has grown to serve more than 45,000 clients across Canada, expanded to ten regional offices, and built a team of over 650 employees, including more than 300 at its Winnipeg headquarters.

A dedicated community leader, Chancellor Gamey has served on the boards of a variety of important Winnipeg organizations such as the Business Council of Manitoba, Winnipeg Blue Bombers, United Way Winnipeg, University of Winnipeg Foundation, and UM Properties. She is an ongoing supporter of numerous other community and charitable organizations.
Chancellor Gamey has been celebrated locally and nationally for her leadership, entrepreneurship, and community contributions. In 2023, she was inducted into the Manitoba Business Hall of Fame and, in 2026, received a DARE Innovation Award from North Forge.
In her role as Chancellor, she will continue to serve as an ambassador for UWinnipeg, fostering partnerships and advocating for the University. As well as participating in key events, such as presiding over Convocation and conferring degrees, the Chancellor also contributes to University governance through membership on both the Board of Regents and Senate.
The University congratulates Chancellor Gamey on her re-election and thanks her for her continued commitment to UWinnipeg and the communities it serves.
