Announcement of 10 Étincelles Award recipients

The names of the recipients of the second annual Étincelles awards were announced this week.

The purpose of the award, established in 2023, is to recognize innovative practices and efforts to create learning environments that help students lead balanced lives, develop a lifelong desire for learning and become ethical and engaged citizens.

"Congratulations to all recipients of this prestigious award," said Education and Early Childhood Development Minister Bill Hogan. "In embracing your innovative spirit, you are the pride of our education system. Your leadership and enthusiasm are critical to the future of our schools and early learning and child-care facilities. Keep pushing boundaries and helping our children find their spark."

From the many nominations submitted, ten were chosen to receive awards. The provincial government will be providing a $1,500 grant to each recipient to go toward projects and initiatives that enhance the quality of learning environments for students.

The 2024 recipients are:

Francophone nord-est school district

Preschool component

·         Garderie la Forêt des Découvertes inc.: Innovative and inspiring daycare

School component

·         École La Croisée: Eco-responsibility and wellness

·         École Le Galion des Appalaches: À l'abordage radio show

Francophone nord-ouest school district

Preschool component

·         À la garderie comme à la maison: Play-based approach, outdoor exploration, togetherness, and artistic expression for holistic child development

School component

·         Carrefour de la Jeunesse: Voice of change

Francophone sud school district

Preschool component

·         Les P'tits Baie Marins: Émoti-com project

·         La Garde'rire - Centre Éducatif de Cocagne inc.: Child development continuum

School component

·         École Mgr-Marcel-François-Richard: Winter market

·         École Clément-Cormier: Flexible Fridays

·         École Blanche-Bourgeois: Eco-gifts and Reading Mondays

"Our schools and child-care centres are models of dedication and professionalism, offering innovative environments that foster the development of students' skills," said Hogan. "The Étincelles award celebrates this exceptional quality arising from inspiring collaboration among players in the education sector, parents and the community. Congratulations to all on this outstanding achievement."
