The government is investing almost $10 million to expand training in the health sector.
Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick (CCNB) in Dieppe will receive $9.9 million over three years to add space and new programs. The pharmacy technician and primary care paramedic programs will be the first ones added in the fall of 2027.
"We are proud to be able to offer world-class post-secondary education right here at home," said Post-Secondary Education and Training Minister Jean-Claude D'Amours. "Projects like this one not only contribute to the development of educational institutions but also provide more opportunities for people who wish to pursue their passions through their studies. These initiatives enable us to be well-prepared to meet the growing demand for qualified professionals as well as the increasing need for essential resources in the health-care sector. In particular, this will help us directly address the specific needs of our francophone communities."
Work will soon begin on adding six modular classrooms and six health laboratories on the Dieppe campus. More than 330 additional graduates are anticipated over the next five years in critical health disciplines.
"The addition of these programs is part of CCNB's commitment to expanding its training capacity in the southeast, where demand is growing," said CCNB president and CEO Pierre Zundel. "The Dieppe campus already offers about 40 regular programs and can accommodate approximately 840 students. Its master plan calls for a gradual modernization of the campus to optimize learning spaces and better meet the current and future needs of the student body and the community."
