The Provincial Government has joined other provinces and territories in Canada in signing on to the Pathways to Teach Canada Consortium.
Pathways to Teach Canada officially launched on November 18, 2024, and supports the success of internationally educated teachers in their journeys toward becoming certified and contributing to the Canadian education system. The service offers credential assessment and language competency assessment assistance.
The service provides a single point of entry for internationally educated teachers to apply for certification and streamlines the process by:
- Improving access to pre-arrival information for internationally educated teachers who seek to settle in Canada to teach in a participating province or territory.
- Promoting the adoption of fair, transparent, consistent, and timely assessment and recognition procedures leading to the issuing of licences to practice.
- Improving labour-market integration outcomes of internationally educated teachers employed in the teaching profession.
Pathways to Teach Canada is a part of the Secretariat offices of the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada.
Quote
"A streamlined approach to support potential international educators to come to Canada and, in turn, our province to teach our students will be a positive outcome for everyone. Working together with the Pathways to Teach Consortium will enhance access to assistance for internationally educated teachers who are considering our country for employment."
Honourable Krista Lynn Howell, Minister of Education
