The Kenora Catholic District School Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Jamey Robertson as its next Director of Education and Secretary-Treasurer, effective August 1, 2025.
A proud graduate of the KCDSB system and St. Thomas Aquinas High School, Jamey Robertson becomes the second Catholic graduate to be appointed to the Board's highest leadership position.

"Jamey brings a unique blend of integrity, intellect, ethics and compassion to everything he does," says Teresa Gallik, Chair of the Board. "He is deeply committed to our Board and has grown with our system from student to teacher, system coordinator, to principal, and now as Director. He leads with a deep moral compass, a strong commitment to equity, and a devotion to Catholic education that is both personal and profound. Because Jamey lives our mission and vision every day, we're confident this will be a seamless transition. We are excited for this next chapter under his leadership."
Robertson began his teaching career at Our Lady of the Valley School, where he became well known for his wit, passion for learning, and ability to connect with students and make learning fun. Over the years, he has taken on a wide range of leadership roles, most recently serving as Superintendent of Education, where he has led portfolios in instructional leadership, technology, risk management, safe schools, and First Nation, Métis, and Inuit education a responsibility he approaches with deep respect, a commitment to relationship-building, and an understanding of its vital role in the journey toward truth and reconciliation.
A data-informed thinker and a strategic problem-solver, Robertson has been a steady presence throughout times of change, including leading the board's transition to online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic and launching a Virtual School.
"I feel deeply honoured by this appointment," says Jamey Robertson. "Kenora Catholic has shaped me first as a student, then as an educator and leader. To be entrusted with this role is a tremendous responsibility and one that I accept with gratitude. I'm thankful for the opportunity to give back to a system that has meant so much to my family and me. I look forward to working alongside our dedicated staff, families, Trustees, and community partners as we continue building a place where every student feels seen, supported, and encouraged to thrive."
Robertson will succeed Nicole Kurtz, who has served as Director since 2022 and will depart the role at the end of August. The Board of Trustees expresses heartfelt thanks to Nicole for her exemplary leadership, vision, and commitment to Catholic education.
The Kenora Catholic District School Board remains deeply committed to nurturing students in faith, learning and belonging through its mission of Growing, Investing and Engaging.
