ALGONQUIN COLLEGE
Engineering Accreditation Positions Algonquin College Graduates for Success in Global Economy

October 23, 2025

Algonquin College's Bachelor of Engineering (Automation and Robotics Engineering) (BEARE) has been accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB) a milestone that opens doors for graduates to pursue top-level careers across Canada and around the world.

The accreditation affirms that the program meets Canada's highest professional standards and provides learners with a direct path toward earning their Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation. CEAB sets national standards for engineering education and ensures Canada's programs remain among the best in the world.

"This accreditation highlights the strength of our program a blend of academic excellence, practical experience, and strong industry connection," said Sandra Brancatelli, Dean of the School of Advanced Technology. "It reflects our ongoing commitment to preparing engineers who can adapt, innovate, and lead in a fast-changing global economy. I'm deeply grateful to our faculty team whose expertise and dedication made this milestone possible."

The program integrates computer engineering, mechanical systems, electrical design, and programming with extensive hands-on experience. Learners complete two mandatory co-op semesters, gaining practical experience that can contribute toward the industry hours required for P.Eng. certification. Graduates are well-positioned for graduate studies, research and design of robots and robotic systems, or careers with robotics and automation engineering companies in Canada and abroad.

With an emphasis on applied learning and innovation, the program has strong ties to employers across the region, including, Canadian Nuclear Laboratories, Siemens Canada Limited, Honeywell Canada, Ross Video Limited and National Research Council.

Here is what some of our employer partners are saying about the BEARE program and its accreditation:

"The Bachelor of Engineering (Automation and Robotics Engineering) is a very important program that Algonquin has intelligently put together and worked hard to get it accredited by the CEAB. The accreditation is evidence of the quality of the program and its graduates. The continuous supervision from the accreditation board ensures maintaining a high-quality engineering program for years to come. As part of the advisory board of this program from the early days, I have seen how great and open-minded and intelligent the team has been in shaping this program. Such graduates are highly needed as the areas of robotics and physical AI are undergoing a revolution."

- Mojtaba Ahmadi, Ph.D., P.Eng., SMIEE, Founder and CEO, MAE Robotics Inc

"It is great to see Algonquin College receive engineering accreditation for the Bachelor of Engineering (Automation and Robotics Engineering) program. Education in robotics and automation is critical to modern manufacturing and having this available to students here is very positive for manufacturing businesses in Ottawa, like Siemens Healthineers. We need talented technical contributors to build and sustain the automation we have today and planned for the future. Having accredited engineering graduates from Algonquin will be a source of talent and a boost to manufacturers in Ottawa and Eastern Ontario as they compete on the world stage."
