November 26, 2024

Vanier College is proud to announce that it will be part of the upcoming Grand Rendez-vous of Nature Positive Universities (NPU) Alliance, taking place on November 26, 2024 at HEC Montréal.

Co-hosted by the Campus Biodiversity Network that has been an official partner of the NPU Alliance since early 2023, and the Réseau universitaire Québécois en développement durable (RUQDD), this gathering will bring together nature positive universities and Cegeps in Quebec, highlight work being done regarding biodiversity on different NPU campuses, hold workshops, offer networking opportunities, and above all, focus on best practices for institutions aiming to conserve and protect biodiversity.

"It's been an honour to help organize this event, which is the first of its kind in Quebec higher education, where universities, research institutes, and cégeps are coming together out of a shared desire to protect biodiversity. It is our interconnectedness in the fight to reverse biodiversity loss that will be at the forefront," says Vanier College teacher Katherine Collin, Founder of the Campus Biodiversity Network.

The meeting is open to anyone working on sustainability in higher education and aims to encourage institutions to join NPU and explore how to enrich biodiversity on campus.

Nature Positive Universities, is an international network of more than 500 higher education institutions, working together to promote nature on their campuses, in their supply chains and within their cities and communities. It was founded by UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) and Oxford University in partnership with the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration. In 2022, Vanier College, which sponsors the Campus Biodiversity Network, signed the NPU pledge committing the college to being part of an important journey towards a livable planet and participating in the ongoing effort to support biodiversity
