CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY
Concordia signs novel academic pathway agreement with French high school

April 24, 2026

On April 17, Concordia signed an academic pathway agreement with Marcq Institution, a highly ranked private school near Lille, France. A first for the university, the agreement will provide interested Marcq high school graduates with personalized application support, including one-on-one virtual meetings with Concordia admissions staff, and an accelerated admission process.

Concordia President Graham Carr (right) signed an academic pathway agreement with Anthony Bardoux, director of Marcq Institution.

The agreement will also provide guidance staff at Marcq with dedicated training on Concordia's admission policies.

"This agreement builds on a strong existing relationship with this institution," says Savvy Papayiannis, director of student recruitment at Concordia. "We already welcome students from Marcq and know the quality of the education they receive. We value our partnership with the school and want to facilitate the recruitment and admissions experience for their graduates."

Many French students at Concordia

French students make up the third largest group of international students at Concordia. In the past year, more than 120 prospective students and their families visited the university from France, Papayiannis explains.

Concordia also maintains a strong presence in the country, with several recruitment visits to France each year to meet with students and participate in key educational fairs and events.

"Preserving that connection is important to the university, and it begins at the recruitment stage," she says.

Key assets

For Anthony Bardoux, director of Marcq Institution, several factors make Concordia an appealing choice for applicants.

"The flexibility Concordia offers students to build their learning journey is an experience that's unheard of in France," Bardoux says.

He adds that Marcq graduates appreciate the experiential learning opportunities offered by Concordia's co-op program, as well as "the opportunity to study in English but in a French-speaking environment."
