CARLTON TRAIL COLLEGE
Carlton Trail College Strengthens Skilled Trades Pipeline Through Apprenticeship Pathways

February 17, 2026
Carlton Trail College is helping address Saskatchewan's growing demand for skilled trades workers by supporting individuals as they explore careers and develop job-ready skills through apprenticeship pathways. As employers across the province seek qualified tradespeople, apprenticeship continues to be a reliable earn-while-you-learn model that connects education directly to employment.

The College plays a key role in this system by offering pre-employment or "Applied Certificate" trades training programs that prepare individuals for success before they formally register as apprentices. These programs are designed for people new to the trades or those looking to confirm their career choice, providing foundational technical skills, workplace safety certification, and essential employability training.

By combining hands-on learning with industry-aligned instruction, students gain practical experience, build confidence, and improve their readiness for the job site. Pre-employment training can also support apprenticeship progression by allowing participants to earn credit toward apprenticeship requirements and connect with potential employers through work placements.

Through strong partnerships and career-focused programming, Carlton Trail College continues to support Saskatchewan's apprenticeship system and workforce needs, helping individuals transition from career exploration to meaningful, long-term employment in the skilled trades.
