Swift Current Comprehensive High School Project Moves into Phase One Procurement

August 18, 2026

The Ministry of SaskBuilds and Procurement (SBP), in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Chinook School Division, is advancing the Swift Current Comprehensive High School renovation project with the release of a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the first phase of construction services.

The project is being delivered using a Construction Manager model and will proceed in multiple phases. The completion of the Phase One design marks an important step forward, defining the scope of initial renovation work.

With the design finalized, the project has entered the procurement stage. Phase One's RFP invites qualified contractors and trades to submit bids to the construction manager.

"This milestone reflects progress in renewing and modernizing critical school infrastructure," SaskBuilds and Procurement Minister Sean Wilson said. "Advancing to tender ensures this project is well prepared to move forward efficiently while minimizing disruption to students and staff."

The Swift Current Comprehensive High School Project for Chinook School Division was approved in March 2024 as a phased renovation project. The approved scope includes replacing HVAC and electrical systems, improving safety through building code upgrades, fire suppression and asbestos remediation.

"The renovation project is an important investment in students, staff and the future of education in this community," Education Minister Everett Hindley said. "We are pleased to continue working with SaskBuilds and Procurement and Chinook School Division to renew this school to support student success for years to come."

"Providing our students and staff with a safe, reliable environment to learn and work in is essential, and the funding from the Ministry of Education turns that commitment into reality," Chinook Board Chair Dianne Hahn said. "We are grateful to SaskBuilds and Procurement for partnering with Chinook and sharing their expertise as we navigate this next chapter."

SBP continues to work collaboratively to deliver school infrastructure projects that enhance safety, reliability and learning environments for students and school communities across Saskatchewan.

The Request for Proposal was posted on SaskTenders at www.sasktenders.ca. It will close on September 3, 2026.
