Corporation Reaches a Five-Year Collective Agreement

The Corporation of Delta and Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE Local 454) have reached a five-year collective agreement effective January 1, 2016. The negotiations were led by George V. Harvie, Chief Administrative Officer and John Gibson, President CUPE Local 454. The parties commenced bargaining in June 2016 and reached an agreement on January 11, 2017.

The 5-year agreement affects all Corporation CUPE 454 workers and covers the period from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2020. It provides for a wage increase of 9.0% over the 5 year period (1.5% in 2016, 1.5% in 2017, 2.0% in 2018, 2.0% in 2019 and 2.0% in 2020). CUPE 454 ratified the new agreement with 94% support. The agreement has been approved by Delta Council. With this recent round of collective agreement, both the Corporation and the Union have reached a fair, reasonable and sustainable collective agreement.
