The successful introduction of the new Universal Transit Pass (UPass) at the University of Lethbridge has increased ridership in west Lethbridge, prompting changes to help meet community demand.
Starting Tuesday, October 8, the west Lethbridge route 32, going to the U of L, will increase in frequency during peak morning hours. The route will run every 10 minutes between 7:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. instead of every 15 minutes as it currently operates. The route will return to 30 minute intervals after 9:30.
During these same morning peak hours route 12 between the University and downtown will run on 30 minute intervals instead of the current 15 minutes.
These changes are being made on a trial basis and will be closely monitored. Further adjustments will be made if needed to ensure an efficient, accessible service for all transit users.
The UPass was introduced in September 2018 to be included in tuition fees for all students enrolled at the U of L. The pass provides students with unlimited access to local transit during each term they are registered for classes.
