Today (Sept 28) at City Council, Councillor Terina Shaw introduced the recipients of the 2022 Henry Baker Scholarship. The City awards Henry Baker Scholarships annually to Regina students who excel in their studies and make a difference in their community.
"On behalf of the Mayor and Council, I'd like to offer congratulations to this year's recipients of the Henry Baker Scholarship," said Councillor Shaw. "Representing three of Regina's post-secondary institutions, these students are making strides within our community through their academics and charitable work. They remind us that Regina is much more than a place to live; it's a place to learn, grow and thrive."
This year's recipients of the Henry Baker Scholarship represent a wide spectrum of academic accomplishment and community volunteerism. Academic aspirations include: elementary school teacher, environmental systems engineering, political science and many others. Charitable work in the community includes 2STQBIPOC Council, Regina Humane Society, Annual Elders' Gatherings and Round Dances, and more.
The 2022 recipients of the Henry Baker Scholarship, valued at $2,000 each, are:
City Council would also like to express its appreciation to all of Regina's post-secondary institutions including instructors, administrators, operations staff and students. Their commitment to lifelong learning plays an important role alongside all residents of Regina who contribute to our vibrant community.
