On November 21, Minister of Education Jeanie McLean tabled the Department of Education 2023-24 Annual Report, in accordance with the requirements of the Education Act. The report highlights the department's key activities of the 2023-24 fiscal year and reflects information current as of March 31, 2024.
The 2023-24 Annual Report highlights some of the work done to support the Reimagining Inclusive and Special Education (RISE) initiative, the Joint Education Action Plan and the Integrated Outcome Strategy for Yukon Learners.
The report also highlights collaboration with First Nations and educational partners to improve programs, services and outcomes for students.
"This year has been one of continued collaboration and significant progress as we work with our partners to reimagine the Yukon school system. Our government remains committed to building structures and systems that better support learners, uphold our commitments to Yukon First Nations and prioritize the health and safety of students and staff."

Highlights from 2023-24 include.
- Collaboration with the Chiefs Committee on Education and the Yukon First Nation Education Directorate to ensure that education in the territory reflects Indigenous worldviews and meets the needs of all students. The development of the Integrated Outcome Strategy for Yukon Learners and progress on the Joint Education Action Plan demonstrate the strength of this partnership.
- Advancing efforts to create a safe and inclusive education system that builds on students' strengths, helping every child feel connected, supported and empowered to succeed. Initiatives like Ready-to-Learn Schools and the Reimagining Inclusive and Special Education workplan are helping to foster inclusive learning environments.
- A new French First Language Program in Dawson, launched by the Commission scolaire francophone du Yukon. The inaugural year saw seven students enrolled, supported by a team of two teachers and one educational assistant.
- Continued growth and progress within the First Nation School Board, which remains a vital part of the collective efforts to enhance education across the territory.
