With nearly 20 years of experience in organizational leadership and literacy, Liane Romain will be the first dean of a new school at Collège Boréal that aims to recognize and celebrate pedagogical excellence and the humanities at the college level.

Romain holds a Master of Arts - Interdisciplinary Studies (Global Change) from Athabasca University, a Bachelor of Arts (Linguistics and Psychology) from Laurentian University and a number of certificates in leadership (including from Colleges and Institutes Canada, Discitus and the Leadership Institute). She has been successfully managing and developing Collège Boréal programs and services since 2017, and is the 2024 recipient of the Award of Excellence for Administrative Staff in recognition of her outstanding achievements as Director of Collège Boréal's Centre for Leadership and Academic Innovation (CLAI).
Focused on student satisfaction, the optimization of human and financial resources, and the development of community initiatives, Liane Romain, as the first dean of the School of Humanities and Excellence in Teaching and Learning at Collège Boréal, will be responsible for growing and enriching students' cultural and social skills through Collège Boréal's wide range of programs and services. Romain will remain at the helm of the CLAI to give its specialists in pedagogy, educational technology, distance education and curriculum development the guidance and support they need to encourage the Boréal community to continue to constantly find innovative ways to serve each and every student.
This new development brings the number of schools within Collège Boréal to five: in addition to the School of Humanities and Excellence in Teaching and Learning led by Liane Romain, Collège Boréal has the School of Business and Community Services led by Jean Cotnoir, the School of Health Sciences led by Suzanne Lemieux, and the School of Environment and Natural Resources and the School of Trades and Applied Technologies, both led by Daniel Leduc.
"Liane Romain's years of impactful leadership and the depth of expertise she brings to her work with Boréal students signals a promising future for the new School of Humanities and Excellence in Teaching and Learning, which will give all our students the tools they need to thrive in the classroom and on the job market."
