Excellence in Education Awards recipients announced (francophone sector)

The names of those receiving Excellence in Education Awards in the francophone sector were announced this week.

The awards recognize teachers, principals and early childhood educators for their leadership in advancing education and achieving the objectives of the francophone education system.

"I sincerely congratulate the nine recipients for their dedication, hard work and commitment to the education of children in our province's francophone communities," said Education and Early Childhood Development Minister Claire Johnson. "You are helping to improve society while truly inspiring the people around you."

Nominations were evaluated by the francophone school districts, and recipients were selected by the provincial Excellence in Education Awards committee.

The award recipients are:

Francophone nord-est school district

  • Bernica Richard-Comeau, teacher, École François-Xavier-Daigle, Chaleur Rural District (Allardville district)
  • Rachel Plourde, principal, École René-Chouinard, Alnwick (Lagacéville district)
  • Élyse Guérette, educator, Garderie Carrefour des amis, Belle-Baie (Beresford district)

Francophone nord-ouest school district

  • Nathalie Damboise, teacher, Carrefour de la Jeunesse, Edmundston
  • Jean Lebel, principal, École Régionale Saint-Basile, Edmundston (Saint-Basile district)
  • Mylène Bourgoin, director, Centre éducatif Bouge O Max, Grand Falls (Saint-André district)

Francophone sud school district

  • Rémi Cormier, teacher, École Le Marais, Dieppe
  • Annie Breau, principal, École Carrefour Beausoleil, Miramichi
  • Diane Duplessis, educator, Au P'tit Monde de Franco, Fredericton

The nine awards will be presented during a ceremony that will take place in Fredericton in February.
