The BRIGIL Learning Centre is inaugurated at Cégep Heritage College

In a festive ceremony held on August 23rd at Cégep Heritage College, the College bestowed a special recognition to BRIGIL by renaming its Learning Centre the BRIGIL Learning Centre to honour the exceptional contribution made by BRIGIL to the Cégep Heritage College Foundation's major fundraising campaign. This designation will be active for a ten-year period.

As a lead donor of the campaign, Gilles Desjardins of BRIGIL announced in 2015 his commitment to match donations from the Heritage Family to a maximum of $100,000. The Heritage Family responded favorably and have, committed $91,000 to-date.

Gilles Desjardins, stated that "Today, BRIGIL is proud to be one of the major donors of College Foundation and is delighted with this wonderful recognition. Investing in youth and education is a real added value to making a difference for the future. It is always important to me to continue to empower the real meaning of BRIGIL's mission "proud to build a better quality of life".

The primary mission of this Centre is to deliver academic assistance to students in an environment that celebrates learning and excellence. The newly renovated centre invites students to develop and learn cooperatively in this expanded facility of 978 square feet.

Heritage is well known to be community driven. Historically, the first Learning Centre was established in 1997 thanks to partnerships with teachers, students, Student Services and Academic Services so as to create a dynamic participative environment. Its unique Peer Tutor Program also contributes to the success of this vital centre. Thanks to the College, its Foundation and the community, the newly renovated and expanded Center will allow more students to persevere in their studies, to gain self-esteem and to meet their educational needs.

The Academic Dean, Roya Abouzia, added that: "At a time when the College is celebrating and entering its 30th year, when its student population is at its highest, and the College programs are in great demand, we celebrate coming together as a community to support our students as they strive to better their lives through education and personal development during their college studies."
