The Vanier Athletics Department is excited to announce that Vanier College will be the official host for the CCAA (Canadian Collegiate Athletics Association) Men's Basketball National Championship in 2025. The event will take place in Saint-Laurent (Montreal), Québec, from March 10-16, 2025 in the Vanier College Sports Complex.
"This will be a great opportunity to bring not only the Vanier Community together but the residents of Saint-Laurent to come watch upcoming basketball talent across Canada," said Mai-Anh Nguyen, Student Life Advisor in Athletics and Tournament Director. 'Hosting a National Championship, will also be a great opportunity for us to enhance our student life experience, and allow us to collaborate with different academic departments. Our Vanier College community is ready and excited for this event.''
This will be Vanier's first time hosting a championship event since 1984 when Vanier College held the CCAA women's Basketball National championship. The entire Vanier Sports Complex staff has had a lot of basketball experience and are going to ensure this event runs smoothly.
Vanier College is located 10 minutes from the airport so during the Championship, teams from the across the country will have a chance to visit Montreal with all its scenic landmarks and sample some of its amazing restaurants.
The Cheetahs, more specifically, the Men's Basketball Team, has a long history of success in the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) D1 Provincial League as well as in the CCAA. The Team has won two National Titles (1987 and 2011) and captured seven Provincial Championships which make them a potential candidate to participate and bring home a title to Montreal.
The Vanier Athletics Department is looking forward to providing an outstanding experience to all basketball fanatics in Montreal.
