A proud leader in innovative health technology and research, Bow Valley College will advance its work in this space, thanks to a $1 million Mobilize grant supported by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).
The research focuses on using simulation, including virtual and extended reality and artificial intelligence-enhanced manikins in health training. It will also explore the enhancement of continuing care through technology solutions such as socially assistive robots, virtual care platforms and tools, sensors, wearables, digitally augmented homecare and health informatics. The college will receive funding over five years.
"This grant will help Bow Valley College nurture its applied research, developing contemporary solutions to health education and training and ultimately improve patient care and quality of life," says Tanya McDonald, Special Advisor, Academic and Research, Bow Valley College.
"Already recognized nationally as a leader in simulation, this funding will allow the college to leverage additional emerging technologies to make a significant contribution in the healthcare field," says McDonald.
The Mobilize grant, part of NSERC's College and Community Innovation (CCI) program, will also help match Bow Valley College students with industry partners in work-integrated learning (WIL) and applied research projects focused on partner innovation priorities.
